Buying Digital Products?

Posted by admin On May - 28 - 2009

If you are buying an ebook, how would you evaluate the product? Unlike a physical product such as a blu ray disc, which can be measured by terms of picture sharpness, capacity and sound outputs, It is very difficult to measure a value of a book - Some people easily call it priceless.

We will tear apart the priceless tag and label a proper tag with the following parameters and questions.

1. Will you read the book completely? If not, there is no point in buying the book.

2. How much time does it take to read the book? A typical example may be an hour to less than 10 hours. Some books like diet, exercise may be read periodically and may span longer.

3. How much does it cost? I would never buy a book for more than $100. Also I would never buy a book, which is values under $5. The lower price tag means that the value is very low.

4. How much incentive do you get from the information? Does it provide a pitch page, with contents? You should always buy a book which has a pitch page. No pitch page, no buying.

5. Calculate ROI. Return on investment - If I buy the book for $99 and I make $200 with the help of the book, I would call it a very good investment.

Tips for Shopping Toys

Posted by admin On May - 27 - 2009

I was in Frankfurt, when I suddenly remembered that I did not buy anything for my nephew and I entered a toy store in the airport. I shopped around for a couple of toys and checkout from the store. Here are a few things, you should consider before buying a toy.

1. Age range - you do not want to give a playstation for a 4 year old nor give a monster truck for a 13 year old.

2. Safety - Do not get toys with complicated and small parts for kids.

3. Gender - Barbie is for a girl and Monster trcuk for a boy. Correct ?

4. Battery - Always check if the toy can be operated using a battery and if the battery is of standard size. It will be good, if you can check if rechargeable cells can be used.

5. Warranty - 1 piece out of every 1000 electronics fails. Always check if there is a warranty for the product.

6. Price - I always buy at amazon.com - Since I get very nice deals there.

Follow up on Online Shopping?

If you buy a pair of jeans from a store, you have the option to try it. If you do not like it, you may leave the store, without being questioned. However, in a online store, you add things to a cart. The next time you sign into a browser, you see the items in a shopping cart, again!!

Did you checkout?

Did you checkout?

A few companies even drop you an email stating that there were items on the cart, which you did not checkout. These kind of marketing strategies is very annoying. I do not want to see 7 emails stating that I did not checkout a pair of jeans. I choose not to checkout!!

Every time, you check out of a store, empty the cart and logout. Store builders, you might want to a add a function to your cart, When the user creates a new session, you might want to empty the cart before adding the first item to the cart.

Have you had any bad experiences, or even good experiences, share with us!!

Should you Buy an Amazon Kindle?

Amazon Kindle

Amazon Kindle

Amazon kindle is called and hyped as a revolutionary device. It is a wireless reading device, which can subscribe to books, newspapers and blogs online. It has a keyboard too, which can be used to input data when you need to subscribe. The new Kindle DX is the to be released version, with nothing added, but a larger screen.

Unless you read a lot, (4 or more hours everyday) and travel a lot, you do not need this device. Amazon kindle sucks, The idea of a wireless reader sucks. Besides costing you a massive $360 price tag, you have to pay to subscribe to online books. If you subscribe to say 10 books, you are going to be paying $100 or so, since each book is approximately priced at about $9.99!!

I found a excellent gimmick about sony wireless book reader prs700 here, and after reading that you will never buy a wireless book reader, Never!!

Best place to buy macbook

Posted by admin On May - 7 - 2009

If you are considering to buy a mac, The answer is YES. It is pricey, but worth every cent and you will love it, what so ever. It is virus free, more secure, very fast, extremely stable and stylish.

Alright, now that you have decided to buy a mac (not convinced still?), you have to decide where to buy a mac!!

The first and foremost place to buy is the apple store. You can customize your mac and also get free shipping, but you end up paying tax.

The next best option would be buy it at amazon, you do not get a chance to personalize your mac, but you can save on the tax. Buying a mac at amazon has its own advantages.

I do not trust ebay as a good place to buy a mac, unless you are pretty sure about the requirements and trust the seller.
